Solo: I’ve watched 100 Thieves games hundreds of times. They were really strong when I played against them

The VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai , which will determine the valorant world champion, is currently being held in China. Gen.G recently defeated 100 Thieves 2-0 and advanced to the winner’s tournament finals.

Solo and Munchkin, the team’s head coaches, looked back on the match at a press conference.

Gen.G advanced successfully by defeating the North American champions 100 Thieves, and in an interview, solo said, “Coach HSK and I watched 100 Thieves’ games about 500 times.

They were a really strong team when we played against them,” revealing that he watched archived games about 500 times in preparation for this match.

The match was a 2-0 victory, but Solo reflected, “We were in control a lot of times in this game, and I thought, ‘Is this all 100 Thieves is like?’ But as the second half went on, they started to catch up, and it made me realize once again that they are a strong team. It was really scary when they were catching up.

But the players did their best. All five of them moved in the direction we wanted. I think we were able to win the game because we were all united in spirit.”

Although Solo won the match, he pointed out the team’s problems in overseas tournaments, saying, “The players were not in good physical condition for this match.

I don’t know why, but every time we participate in an overseas tournament, they are unable to adapt to the environment and become more susceptible to catching colds. When one person catches a cold, it spreads to others, so they were not in 100% condition.”

Munchkin, who leads Gen.G as the IGL, said in an interview, “I think both teams were determined to win this match.

However, thanks to 100 Thieves’ passive play, we were able to gain an advantage and play the game the way we wanted.” He commented that their aggressive playstyle and confidence were the reasons for their victory.

He continued, “We also struggled with the opposition catching up, but that was because I, as the IGL, wasn’t able to accurately grasp their movements.

That’s where we made mistakes, but our coaches pointed them out to us at halftime and during timeouts, so we were able to finish with a victory.”

He reflected on how although the opposition struggled to catch up during the match, they were able to win thanks to the two coaches, solo and HSK.

Gen.G has been on a winning streak, defeating 100 Thieves, FNATIC, FunPlus Phoenix, and Leviatán, all of which are strong teams from around the world.

Will this be the team’s first international championship? The team will face G2 Esports tomorrow, June 7th (Friday) at 4pm Japan time, for a spot in the Grand Finals.
