Potter: We already had a feeling that some players were going to leave. I’m sure there were moments when they felt envious of other teams.”

Last August, Evil Geniuses won Valorant Champions 2023 and became world champs but the other day, They shook things up, swapping four out of five players on their roster.

The big shots like Ethan, Demon1, Boostio, and C0M who led the team are out, Leaving Jawgemo as the only EG member. Potter, the head coach, spilled the beans on what went down and his future plans in an interview with Dot Esports. Here’s a snippet of what he said.

“Before the Tokyo Masters and Champions last year, I knew I couldn’t stick with this player. I already had a hunch some would bail.

Boostio, C0M, and Jawgemo been coaching them for like two or three years. We’ve been through a lot together. Players probably got jelly of other teams sometimes. I get it. I felt the same way.”

“During the break, players had different choices. Some got offers waving big money in their faces. They chatted about going for the win again, but it was a tough call. Jawgemo surprised me by sticking around. Big thanks to him. I’m stoked. I’m just a regular guy.”

“With this new setup, we aimed for flexibility and personality. Derrek’s a sharpshooter, good vibes guy, and will boost the team spirit. Let’s have him lead. His aim’s got some secret powers, you know?”

“Supamen’s a pro mature player. Been wanting him on the team for like two years. Excited he finally joined. NaturE, the IGL, was the player I wanted from day one. He’s the type who sacrifices, steps back, and gives solid directions to the players.”

Evil Geniuses, now with four new players: Apoth, Derrek, NaturE, and Supamen are gearing up for VCT AMERICAS 2024 KICK-OFF starting on the 16th. In the first match, they’ll take on the winners of KRÜ Esports and G2 Esports.
