Liquid Brazil, First Female Team In Challengers League, Tops Open Qualifiers By Beating Boyfriend’s Team

Liquid Brazil just became the first female team to move on to the Challengers League Open Qualifiers. They beat a team led by one of their own players’ boyfriends and a former pro, securing their spot in the Closed Qualifiers.

The team, Liquid Brazil, came second in the Women’s World Championship last year. They recently announced their participation in Brazil’s Challenger League VCB 2024 Split 1 and successfully made it through the open qualifying round.

During the competition, Liquid Brazil performed amazingly, losing only one map in the four matches from the first round to the final.

In the finals, they took down a mixed team with players like Joojina’s girlfriend xenom, v1nny, and glym from Liquid Brazil, earning their spot in the closed preliminary round. This marks the first time a girls’ team has made it through Brazil’s Challenger League Open Qualifiers.

Liquid Brazil is a valorant GC team that started in Brazil in January 2022. Since then, they’ve consistently won official women’s tournaments in Brazil and participated in the world tournament for two years in a row, achieving 3rd place in 2022 and runner-up in 2023.

This will also be their first time in the Challengers League, and they’re aiming to pass both open and closed qualifiers to make it to the main stage, with a chance to participate in the Ascension frame.

The closed qualifier for VCB 2024 Split 1, which Liquid Brazil is part of, is set to happen from January 26th to 28th local time. The eight teams from the open preliminaries will compete in a double-elimination format for two spots in the main tournament.

All teams, except Liquid Brazil, are amateur teams, but mixed teams like xand, ntk, and fzkk, Tropa do Avanço, have also made it through the qualifying rounds and are moving on to the closed qualifying rounds.
