Last year, Evil Geniuses became the world champion in valorant, Winning the Valorant Champions 2023. Today, They shared the lineup for the 2024 season. Mr. BoDork wasn’t happy about it and expressed his strong opinion in a video that’s getting a lot of attention.
On his X account (formerly Twitter), he said, “Making players post their feelings about joining the team in a twitter thread is the worst way to announce a roster in esports history.”
He thinks it’s a bad idea. He pointed out that having players make their own videos and then posting them in a thread format reduced the viewers’ interest.
He continued, “When an esports team is out of money, usually, they just post a single image. But making a thread for a roster announcement video is mean and on purpose. Especially the last video about Apoth’s prison.”
BoDork complained that these announcements seemed to mock the team amid reports of financial issues.
Evil Geniuses is facing financial trouble, laying off more than half of its employees and asking players to take a 50% pay cut. They’ve also downsized by dissolving the CS2, League of Legends, and Dota 2 divisions from last year to this year.
BoDork suggested that the low-budget announcement video, due to financial difficulties, gained attention with 250 retweets on the initial tweet, as he pointed out.
After a major reorganization, Evil Geniuses, with four new members, is set to participate in VCT AMERICAS 2024 KICK-OFF, starting on the 16th of next month.
Despite the negative reviews, can they bounce back and reclaim the world champion title? All eyes will be on the upcoming match.
